THE DEAD SEA AND THE JUDEAN DESERT BY 4X4

As soon as we get to Massada, we will take the cable car to the top of the mountain that was declared in 2002 as world heritage site by UNESCO. On this tour we will be amazed by ancient engineering techniques, the4x4 ride in the desert wilderness and the human story that took place here 2000 years ago.

Following Masada we'll take a Land rover ride to the wilderness of the Judean desert. This Land rover will take as to mount Sdom and Pratzim stream, we'll see the salt mountain of Sdom, which we'll taste and maybe even see Lot's wife. This is a very unique tour to one of the remote areas of Israel.

For the last part of the day we'll enjoy a dip in the Dead Sea The highest concentrate of salt in the world. This salt allows us to float on the water reading the newspaper. MASSADA SUNRISE TOUR

 

03:00   Depart from Tel Aviv

 

05:00 Arriving to the eastern side of massada. Before we start hiking up this mountain the guide will prmassadaepare us a cup of coffee and some cookies that will help us get the energy for the hike. The hike starts in darkness facing the great mountain of Masada. It will take us about an hour to get to the top of massada (physical fitness required).

 

06:00 watching the sun rising above the MoabMountains is a spectacular sight. After enjoying sunrise- a tour on the top of the mountain will reveal the ethos of the Jewish rebels 2000 years a go. A story of bravery or cowardice- that's up to you to decide. 

 

08:00 going down from the mountain using the cable car. And after that a visit at Masada museum- this new museum, recently opened presents all the items that where found in the excavation.

 

08:30- breakfast- sandwiches

  

09:30 hike at Ein gedi natural reserve this beautiful oasis is a source of living for many animals, flora and human. During the hike we'll refresh ourselves in the cool fresh water.

THE DEAD SEA AND EIN GEDI

 

Arriving to Massada and touring the mountain that was declared in 2002 as world heritage site by UNESCO. On this tour we will be amazed by ancient engineering techniques, the wilderness and the human story that took place here 2000 years ago. camel ride

From there we will continue to hike in Ein Gedi natural reserve this beautiful oasis is a source of living for many animals, flora and human. During the hike we'll refresh ourselves in the cool fresh water.

We will visit the AHAVA factory and visitor center that is situated in Kibuttz Mizpe Shalem.

The End of the day we will spend in Mineral beach at the Dead Sea; mud, sulfur pools and of course the unique sensation of floating in the Dead Sea (bring a newspaper)

THE DEAD SEA AND JERICHO & QUMRAN

On our way to the Dead Sea we will stop from a view over the Saint George monastery. In the heart of the desert (this part of the tour is subject to road condition). We will ride on donkeys to the Greek orthodox monastery that is situated on a cliff in the desert. We will meet the people the person that are living in the monastery and learn about their life.

We will continue to another visit the oldest city in the world- Jericho. We will be guided onDead sea mad this part by a Palestinian guide since Jericho is controlled by the Palestinian authority. This tour will take as to the Karantal desert monastery, Tel Jericho and the Hisham palace. Our next stop will be the Qumran national park. This place was inhabitedby an extreme sect in Judaism called Esseneswho wrote the Dead Sea scrolls 2000 years ago. We will learn about the unique scrolls that were found in the caves and we will see the way that they live there.

After that will end the day in Kalia beach at the Dead Sea; mud, sulfur pools and of course the unique sensation of floating in the Dead Sea (bring a newspaper)

2 DAYS TOUR - DEAD SEA AND JUDEAN DESERT

 

On our way to the desert we will first stop at Tel Azeka, the place where David hit goliath with the slingshot. We will hear the famous story where the events actually took place. 

Visit a local winery where we'll taste the Israeli local win and continue our ride down south to kfar Hanokdim- an oases in the heart of the desert. 

In the Kana`im valley which is in the Judean desert, between the city of Arad and Masada, lies Kfar Hanokdim It is a green oasis with shaded areas created by palm leaves and biblically inspired gardens.

On the site there are authentic Bedouin tents comfortably fitted with colorful rugs and mattresses, Divans (functional halls) built from wood and stone, desert style guest rooms and conveniently positioned shady seated areas.

on arrival to the Kfar we will enjoy warm Bedouin hospitality accompanied with explanations of Bedouin life and culture. Then we'll be getting our camels (2 people on a camel) and we will ride in to the desert.

Second day-

 

Very early wake-up 

After having a warm tea and some cookies, we'll drive 15 minutes to the eastern side of Masada. We will start hiking up using the ancient roman ramp. It will take as 20 minutes to get to the top.  This moment on the top of Masada, waiting for the sun to rise is without no doubt, one of the magical and spiritual moments that you will have in Israel. Watching the sun rising above the Moab Mountains is a spectacular sight.

2 DAYS IN THE NEGEV

Our first stop will be Mamshit and national park of Nabataeas ruins. Ben Gurion suggested this place to be the capital of Israel since it's located exactly in the middle of Israel. We will visit in the ruins and learn about the Nabataeans and after that we will ride on Camels for 1 hour. Then we will visit the desert house and the tomb of the first PM of Israel David Ben Gurion. We will learn what took him far from the center of Israel to a remote Kibbutz in the desert.

At this point we will check –in a desert BB.

We will rest and then we will drive to Mizpe Ramon for a short walk along the cliffs of the crater. This evening we will have dinner  in a restaurant situated on the edge of the cliff. 

Second day-

In the morning after a nice desert breakfast we will visit a winery that is growing it's vineyards in the desert and makes wine out of it. Then we will hike the Ovdat stream and enjoy the desert landscape and nature.

We will continue to the big crater where we will collect colorful send in bottles and tour the sites in the area.

THE NEGEV ON THE WAY TO EILAT  

 

On our way to Eilat we will stop at Mamshit a national park of Nabataeas ruins. Ben Gurion suggested this place will be the capital of Israel since it's located exactly in the middle of Israel.

EILAT VIA THE DEAD SEA

We will stop in Ein Bokek, for a swim in the Dead Sea, we will continue on our way to Eilat through the Arava Valley stopping in Yotveta Hai Bar to see the endangered wild animals that are waiting to be returned to the desert.

After this zoological tour we will visit Timna Park where we will see all kinds of natural formation in the red rock. This place was a main source of copper in the past, so we will see the remains of the copper mining tunnels.
